"Precious" Movie -- Inspired or Diabolical?

The most controversial film yet to hit the screens ignited a fiery reaction that ran the full spectrum of human emotion. The extremist reviews rated Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire as “Angelic and “Demonic.” The film, about a poor young woman “has sparked controversy over its meaning” because it’s either “A reinforcement of noxious stereotypes or a realistic and therapeutic portrayal of a black family in America,” writes Felicia R. Lee in The New York Times. Starring Gabourey Sidibe, “The new film about an obese, poor, illiterate, young black woman who is sexually and emotionally abused, has sparked this heartfelt and at times heated debate about its meaning in the two weeks since its limited release”

And now, “As it opens nationwide in 100 markets this weekend, the conversation about which black stories are told, and how, is bound to intensify, thanks to post-screening discussion groups; the cultural influence of two of the movie’s executive producers, Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry; and the Oscar buzz the critically acclaimed film has already begun generating,” Lee adds.

I already pre-programmed an article and a quote-post tomorrow. The former is about Google's new AdMob, and the latter is about the Sarah Palin Newsweek cover
