In The End, Angelo Reyes Achieved Redemption


I’ve always respected Angelo Reyes, the late Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, because he never pretended to be Mr. Clean. In shogun-era Japan, suicide is a samurai’s supreme act of redemption, and in that context, Reyes was more honorable than the self-righteous, less articulate politicians who were out to get him to cover somebody else
