Do You Still Remember Your Favorite Teacher?

Today October 5 is World Teachers’ Day, and do we still remember the teachers who shaped our minds and changed our lives? Some of us are lucky to have come across such great intellect and beautiful souls, but there also those who breezed through life without such tender memories. It’s different when it comes to movies because most of us have encountered cinematic role models that made us want to meet – or be – them. One such for me is John Keating, Robin William’s unconventional literature professor in Peter Weir’s Dead Poets Society. “Carpe diem!” – Seize the day! – he would exhort his students, which includes Robert Sean Leonard and Ethan Hawke, and I’ve always wanted to come across such a teacher; someone who would inspire me to reach my full potential, showing me that becoming a person who leads a meaningful life starts from within, that I’m the only one I’ve got, and I’ve got to respect that person, in whatever circumstances, whatever happens.
