Huggybear's Stories

Typhoon Rammasun, known here in the Philippines as Glenda, is
mercilessly pummeling almost the entire island of Luzon where Metro Manila is.
I'm in the Visayas region, all the way across the sea, but it's raining here
too. Glenda is like a super storm. All
school levels in both are closed. I'm tuned in to the radio, monitoring the
live reports across the country while waiting for sleep after working the
entire night. Titanic waves are sprouting over Manila Bay, lashing down at
Baywalk, the stretch of sea-side road in Roxas Boulevard in Manila which is one
of my favorite places in this country.

I hope the storm is not as
devastating as Haian, known locally as Yolanda, which earlier this year has
virtually destroyed Tacloban town in Leyte, just across the bay from Cebu where
I'm now. Leyte was my last stop before landing here last year. It's Signal
Number 3 in the storm-prone Bicol Region, the tip of Luzon island where I took
the ship.

I hear Rey Langit loud and clear.
It's good to hear that the broadcast icon is still on the air. I recognize his
voice loud and clear. His co-anchor is Alex Santos who used to be a field
reporter from DZMM-Teleradyo, the radio-TV program of ABS-CBN which I always
listen to when I was still in Metro Manila. It turns out I'm tuned in to DWIZ,
the first Tagalog station I found when I twidled the dial. The people who own
it also publishes the weekly magazine Philippine Graphic and the daily
newspaper BusinessMirror, where a lot of my fiction stories, poetry and Op-Ed
articles have appeared.
I've been in deep introspection in
the past few days. There are things that happened which I wish had not. They
were beyond my control. It stands to reason that an outside force is the
causative factor. I believe in the Law of Attraction, taught by the highly
evolved entity Seth channeled by medium Jane Roberts.
Seth's Suggested Prime Belief
That was decades even before Rhonda
Byrne stumbled upon "The Secret." Maybe the creative energy, the same
power that governs the universe, got filtered through some lingering negative
patterns in my mind. I definitely need to do some heavy duty mental
housecleaning.

At the same time, I also believe
that we've already drawn the blueprint for our current lifetime even before we
were born. The idea has been clarified for me by the psychic Sylvia Brown in
her book Phenomenon: Everything You Need to Know About The Paranormal, which I
bought in BookSale in Robinson's in front of Fuente OsmeƱa earlier this year.
Our goal is for the soul to be purged and purified to perfection so we can all
go back to the One Source of All That Is. Sylvia calls it "Home."
It's like choosing our college
subjects to get our degree. We are here to study, metaphorically and
metaphysically - and to graduate to achieve a higher degree. I think there's no
conflict between destiny and free will. We create our own destiny through our
choices. It is our actions in the "present" that creates our
"future," on that level of reality where linear time does not exist.
I was enlightened by a book a
friend has lent to me years ago. My cosmic view expanded because of the
author's pond analogy. Imagine you're standing at the edge of a pond. You throw
a pebble into the water. It creates ripples. Those little circle of waves
extend outward until they reach you. Therefore, you are destined to get your
feet wet. It's raining hard outside. Typhoon Glenda is still on a rampage. If I
choose to go outside, then I'm bound to get wet and not just my feet. That is
destiny. That is also free will. This is what I believe to be true, and truth
is always simple and elegant. Personally though, I'd rather stay warm and cozy
in bed.

“Be grateful for what you have now. As you begin to think about all the things in your life you are grateful for, you will be amazed at the never ending thoughts that come back to you of more things to be grateful for. You have to make a start, and then the law of attraction will receive those grateful thoughts and give you more just like them.” ~ Rhonda Byrne, The Secret
“If you knew your potential to feel good, you would ask no one to be different so that you can feel good. You would free yourself of all of that cumbersome impossibility of needing to control the world, or control your mate, or control your child. You are the only one who creates your reality. For no one else can think for you, no one else can do it. It is only you, every bit of it you.” ~ Abraham (channeled by Esther Hicks)
