It was him but he wasn’t there.
Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey Arroyo admitted it was him on the photo posted on Facebook buying wines, at the height of typhoon Ondoy’s onslaught last Saturday, at Rustan’s on Katipunan Ave., but he said he was in MalacaƱang helping in the relief operations. He slammed bloggers for insinuating that he was callous, and reasoned that Katipunan was impassable at the time. It makes sense. But he didn’t say when the photo was taken.
Here’s the original caption “Was buying food for keeps… then we saw Mikey Arroyo in Rustans Liquor Section asking the salesman for a brand of hard alcoholic drink. Effin Crazy! Just a few kilometers away from Katipunan, people are needing help for search and rescue, and there he was buying bottles of alcohol. See for yourself and tell me what you think."
He could played the underdog and win public sympathy, but what he told The Daily Tribune yesterday showed why he shouldn’t be in power – “I hope that Facebook and other like mediums be regulated so they can never be subjected to abuse by some scrupulous people.”
